WELCOME TO POLISH YMCA
Polish YMCA is a Christian, ecumenical, voluntary movement for women and men with special emphasis on the involvement of young people. Our mission is to inspire and support people with spiritual, intellectual and physical development in accordance with the Christian values. We strive to serve people especially in the field of education and developing passions and interests.
2012-08-05    20 years of Come Together - Leaders' Meeting
From 2nd to 5th of August, an international leaders' meeting took place in Krakow. Reason of the meeting was the 20th anniversary of the cooperation between the YMCA in Krakow and Evangelisches Jugendwerk in Öhringen. The main aims were to improve methods of our work and build the programme of cooperation for next 4 years.    more  >>
2012-05-07    YMCA's young leaders' training in Pilica
18 young leaders from YMCA's branches in Kraków, Kurnędz i Tęgoborze have participated in the training on using project methodology in programme activity. The training took place in YMCA's Camp PILICA in Kurnedz in 3-6 May.    more  >>
2011-08-04    Wind of change - International Youth Exchange
7 young people from YMCA-Krakow, together with their peers from Germany, Latvia, Slovakia and Italy have discovered the possibilities connected with the renewable sources of energy. They visited wind farm, hydro-power plant, biomass plant and solar-power plant located in Baden-Wuttenberg, Germany.    more  >>

ABOUT POLISH YMCA
The YMCA came to Poland in 1919 with Polish military units from the West as a humanitarian and welfare mission of the American YMCAs. In 1923 the Polish YMCA was officially inaugurated and the first National Assembly took place. The YMCA outreach programme helped the poor, the illiterate, the hungry and the out-of-work. During the IIWW Polish YMCA served Polish troops and refugees in 18 countries of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. After the war YMCA continued to work in Poland until it was closed down by the communists in 1949 and the property was taken over by the government. Polish YMCA was emerged just after the downfall of communism in Poland in 1990.
